Polygel
Polygel is considered to be a hybrid formula that combines the durability of acrylic and the flexibility of gel.
It comes in several different colors most commonly clear, nude, natural, soft pink and pink.
Polygel typically comes in a tube that looks like toothpaste. This is applied directly onto the nail on top of the nail and nail form. Then, it’s molded to the length and shape you desire and cured under a gel lamp.
Polygel is unique in that it CAN be soaked off, however, due to the dehydrating nature and time constraints of acetone, it is rarely done, and rarely needs to be completely removed, therefore it is only thinned down with only any product that is lifting off the nail being removed and filled as acrylic would be.
If you have an active lifestyle, are hard on your hands, or are accustomed to acrylics, this is what we would suggest for you.

Hard Gel
Hard gels are used to build nail extensions as they can add length that most soft gels can’t. They are similar to acrylic nails in this aspect, but still need to be cured under an LED or UV lamp. To be removed, they usually need filing off, so can cause more damage to the natural nail.

Builder Gel/Soft Gel
Builder gel is used when you want to create length, thickness or add strength to the nail. You can apply builder gel to either natural nails for a non-chip overlay. It’s much stronger than regular gel polish base coats, and the formula is a much thicker consistency to a normal base coat. They have high self-leveling properties which ensure a smooth foundation layer, thus minimizing or even completely eliminating filing.
Many of today’s soft gels come in a bottle with a brush and can be applied similar to a regular nail polish – though still need curing with a nail lamp. You can still add thickness and some length to the nail, though you won’t be able to extend them as much as you would with a hard gel. So, they are usually used for a more natural effect.
Builder gels also come in different colors and and also be soaked off with Acetone, but again are seldom done due to the drying nature of the Acetone.
A builder gel can last up to 3 weeks and when it begins to grow out it can be re-balanced just like you would with acrylics, or it can be completely removed and reapplied right away.
If you have an active lifestyle are hard on your hands or are used to acrylics this is probably NOT for you.
If you have natural nails that grow well and just need a bit of extra strength and like keeping them a professional length. This would be a great choice.
